It is not a secret that IVA Audio Pack is selling like a hot cake in Malaysia. The success of these packages are due to the portability, ease to use, reasonable audio quality and affordable price.
IVA Audio Pack (variance of 15+, 12+ and 10+ for different loudspeaker sizes)
There is another kind of setup with IVA system that push the audio quality to next level. With this setup, there is substantial gain in audio quality at the expense of portability, affordability & in certain extend, the ease to use. Below is an example of IVA full system setup with an analog mixer HM-822FX, a power amplifier TPM-2.3 and a pair of speaker rX-12mk2.
IVA Full System Setup
The differences between IVA Audio Pack and IVA Full System is obvious. IVA Audio Pack combines the analog mixer and power amplifier into a single unit which is called powered mixer. By combining these two equipment into single unit, it achieve portability for users, ease to use due to less equipment and lower cost to purchase lesser equipment. However this come at the expands of amplification power outputs and sonic quality. This by no mean that the powered mixer is bad sounding but the separate equipment setup indeed sounds much more superior.
It is very simple to understand. The separate equipment provide larger space for circuitry which allow much more sophisticated power amplifier circuit. While the smaller size powered mixer only allows basic amplification circuit. The limitation of space in powered mixer does not allow big heatsink inside therefore limit the maximum power. It is because higher output power has high power losses in term of heat. With dedicated power amplifier, we can choose suitable power rating for our loudspeaker. Therefore, this enable sufficient power delivered to the loudspeaker. Imagine the sonic quality of a powered mixer has to constantly operate at 80% to 100% of the power amplifier capacity versus a full system that running at 50% capacity. That is a big different!
Hope this explains well the differences between two setups. Which type of setup you preferred?
