Active DSP loudspeaker SA3 series is one of the hottest Audiocenter and AV Electronics Marketing product. It is one of the fastest selling Audiocenter product in Malaysia in large quantity. You can read about this further HERE. This success is due to the satisfactory sound quality, durable product and competitive pricing.
Continuing with the tradition to produce a good and durable product, Audiocenter provide another new quality product at a much affordable pricing. This is to ensure more people able to enjoy Audiocenter made product. However, the lower pricing is not achieved with reducing the quality or lowering down the standard. Audiocenter is a brand that originate from concert series loudspeaker system (such as line array), therefore the manufacturer is very particular in the durability and audio quality.
First difference between MA and SA3 is the material of the cabinet. SA3 series which consists of SA315, SA312, SA310, SA3118 and SA3218 are made by solid plywood. It is not a mystery that the higher price and higher end loudspeakers are made with plywood. The audio produced by plywood cabinet is the best due to the low resonance nature of plywood. In the market, there are some high quality loudspeaker that are made with plastic however there are none of them able to solve the "plastic" sound. Advantage of the plastic cabinet are lightweight, cheaper and scratches proof. For users that are particular on sound quality, they may not able to accept the plastic sound. However, many has accepted the plastic sound. Looking at this trend, Audiocenter has decided to produce MA15 and MA12 using a plastic cabinet. However, the chosen plastic will be thicker so the better sound quality can be produced.
The second difference between MA and SA3 is the amplifier's power rating. The power rating for SA3 is 2000 Watt. MA series utilize a 1600 Watt rating power amplifier. The reduction in power is a logical decision since the plastic cabinet unable to withstand the high power. The mass movement of the air from the high power system will causes the plastic cabinet to vibrate.
Above are the 2 differences between MA and SA3. All other features are maintained. The standby mode after 15 minutes is still there. This feature is very useful to ensure the power amplifier and DSP turn to "low power" mode which ultimately increase the live of the electronics. Bluetooth feature remains and very useful for those who wanted a music playback from smartphone. MA15 and MA12 can be lied down to become a stage monitor. For installation, screw mounting is still available in MA15 and MA12.
Although there is slight downgrade in MA series, however it still able to satisfy the need of many users. Manufacturer has taken many data from the market and users to create this product. MA series also has been subjected to many comparison with other brand in the market so the final fine tuning is being made. Due to MA series come with Digital Signal Processing (DSP), manufacturer able to make the best setting for the loudspeaker. Among those settings are Parametric Equalizer, Limiter, Compressor and delay between tweeter and woofer. All these setting are created in anechoic chamber which easily cost up to hundred thousand of US dollar to built it up. With this, Audiocenter is confident that MA series is among the best plastic loudspeaker in the market.
